The board owed the Lions one, and it paid up: Jack Kiser, the No. 182 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 7 slot like a gift left on the doorstep.

They will need Griffith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
