Draft Grade — Lions
Overall

FutureB-
The Lions robbed the room for Noel. Final grade: B-. Somebody in No. 133 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Lions sat still while Jaylin Noel, the No. 102 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Martin lower, and that gap is the story.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In the 28th pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick60
Rnd2
Kyle Kennard
Kyle Kennard at slot 60 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick101
Rnd3
Denzel Burke
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Denzel Burke for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick133
Rnd4
Jaylin Noel
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Jaylin Noel in Round 4, Pick 32, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick198
Rnd6
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant slipping to pick No. 198 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick227
Rnd7
Donovan Edwards
They barely believed it either: Donovan Edwards still on the board at the 227th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick230
Rnd7
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser in pick 230 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick246
Rnd7
Nick Martin
Nick Martin at No. 246 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
