You build a draft on nights like this. Javon Foster had no business being available in pick No. 101, and the Panthers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

If Grimes pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.

For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
