FOXY KNOXY DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections

Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB
More right than wrong for the Seahawks, and a B- to prove it. The Seahawks did not so much draft Jackson Hawes as overpay for him, 37 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
It is not that Bryant is a bad player; it is that the Seahawks had louder needs to answer first. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Arroyo.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptive interior force. A real need, handled.
Pick50
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jihaad Campbell in Round 2, Pick 18. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick52
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Nice patience on Xavier Watts, who had no business lasting to No. 52. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick82
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
They let Maxwell Hairston come to them and pounced at slot 82. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick87
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo at the 87th pick is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick92
Rnd3
Charles Grant
No edge and no loss on Charles Grant in pick No. 92; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick124
Rnd4
Cobee Bryant
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Cobee Bryant in No. 124 leaves edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots for later.
Pick137
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jake Majors at slot 137 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick172
Rnd5
Jack Nelson
They took Jack Nelson at par in the 172nd pick, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick175
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes at pick 223 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick234
Rnd7
Moliki Matavao
A big swing on Moliki Matavao at Round 7, Pick 18, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster fit checks out.
