Draft Grade — Bills

FutureC+
The Bills let Williams fall into their laps, and walked away with a D. Somebody took the Bills to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Nugent pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
The Williams value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Quinyon Mitchell
In No. 28 they get a potential shutdown corner at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick39
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
No edge and no loss on T'Vondre Sweat in pick No. 39; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick66
Rnd3
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy slid further than he should have, and the 66th overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick73
Rnd3
Austin Booker
Austin Booker at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick84
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
Fair-plus on Marshawn Kneeland, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick101
Rnd4
Jaden Hicks
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaden Hicks at slot 101 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
Pick104
Rnd4
Christian Mahogany
A tidy little value on Christian Mahogany in pick No. 104, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick178
Rnd6
Isaiah Williams
No drama and no debate, Isaiah Williams went about where he belonged in No. 178. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick189
Rnd6
Kendall Milton
They paid up for Kendall Milton at Round 6, Pick 14 when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick200
Rnd6
Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent in the 200th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick201
Rnd6
Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper at the 201st overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick204
Rnd6
Javontae Jean-Baptiste
The board had cheaper options than Javontae Jean-Baptiste at pick 204, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick205
Rnd6
Cornelius Johnson
They will replay Cornelius Johnson at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick248
Rnd7
Evan Williams
Evan Williams in slot 248 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
