Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureD-
Williams is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: B-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

If Simpson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In slot 1 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick13 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In No. 13 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 24th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick46 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Legette. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick54 Rnd2 Kiran Amegadjie
They went early on Kiran Amegadjie in the 54th pick, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick75 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Michael Hall Jr. in pick No. 75. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jared Wiley
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jared Wiley. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick122 Rnd4 Jaylin Simpson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaylin Simpson this early at Round 4, Pick 22. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick148 Rnd5 Christian Jones
Good price on Christian Jones in the 148th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick156 Rnd5 Isaiah Williams
They talked themselves into Isaiah Williams at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
