Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: D.

The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. A D that will need time and luck to look better.

So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the Van Pran reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 1st overall pick they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In slot 9 they get a home-run threat at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick44 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
A tidy little value on Chop Robinson in No. 44, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at Round 3, Pick 11 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick110 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at the Round 4 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick122 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
A slide stopped in pick No. 122, with Leonard Taylor III worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick146 Rnd5 Jaheim Bell
Jaheim Bell slid further than he should have, and the 146th pick is lovely value for the tight end. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
