Draft Grade — Cowboys

FutureB-
The Cowboys fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Gerry Bohanon at the 247th overall pick is 187 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The Barton steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick44
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon at No. 44 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick49
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
They liked TreVeyon Henderson enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 2 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick76
Rnd3
Tyleik Williams
Circle this one: Tyleik Williams at slot 76 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick83
Rnd3
Charles Grant
They paid sticker price for Charles Grant in pick 83, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick86
Rnd3
Savion Williams
Savion Williams at the 86th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick89
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
They read the board right and Quinshon Judkins was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick121
Rnd4
Donovan Smith
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Donovan Smith. It fills a real need, too.
Pick164
Rnd5
Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. in No. 164 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick168
Rnd5
Lathan Ransom
A safety of that caliber at slot 168 is the definition of value, full stop. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick170
Rnd5
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in pick No. 170 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick173
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin slipping to Round 5, Pick 36 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick186
Rnd6
Connor Colby
They robbed the room for Connor Colby here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick209
Rnd6
Lander Barton
Lander Barton in pick 209 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick218
Rnd7
Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at slot 218 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
Pick247
Rnd7
Gerry Bohanon
Gerry Bohanon in No. 247 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
