Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall F
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureD
A weekend the 49ers spent ahead of the board, for worse: F.

The Oluwafemi Oladejo selection is the head-turner. The 49ers reached 91 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. There is no dressing it up: a F.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They banked enough surplus on Paul Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left quarterback open, and the grade is the bill.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
They went early on Walter Nolen in No. 11, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick15 Rnd1 Mike Green
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a premier pass rusher, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at the 43rd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick56 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at the Round 2 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jalen Royals
Jalen Royals in slot 62 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Deone Walker
Deone Walker at pick No. 75 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick100 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
The board fumbled Elijah Arroyo all the way to the 100th overall pick, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Pick113 Rnd4 Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton in Round 4, Pick 11 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick118 Rnd4 Chris Paul Jr.
They will replay Chris Paul Jr. at slot 118 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick138 Rnd4 Emery Jones Jr.
A tidy bit of business in pick 138, where Emery Jones Jr. graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick147 Rnd5 Oluwafemi Oladejo
Oluwafemi Oladejo at the 147th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick187 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. slid further than he should have, and No. 187 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick206 Rnd6 Trevor Etienne
A reach on Trevor Etienne in pick No. 206; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick226 Rnd7 Kyle Monangai
Kyle Monangai in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick230 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson at Round 7, Pick 14 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
