Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesC
FutureB-
The Seahawks did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. Some picks age like wine; Davison Igbinosun at pick 138 will need to, sitting 32 spots clear of his grade. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
However the rest shakes out, Hill Jr. at that price is a win they earned. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Quantity was the play, for better or worse.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Chris Brazzell II
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Chris Brazzell II at slot 27. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick62
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Somehow Anthony Hill Jr. was still sitting there in the Round 2 slot, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick97
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
Circle this one: Eli Stowers at the 97th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick109
Rnd4
Diego Pavia
Diego Pavia at No. 109 is money in the bank, a quarterback taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick138
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at pick No. 138 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick178
Rnd5
Duce Robinson
No edge and no loss on Duce Robinson in Round 5, Pick 38; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick194
Rnd6
Bud Clark
Bud Clark at slot 194 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick197
Rnd6
Josh Moten
They paid sticker price for Josh Moten in pick 197, and that is fine. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick203
Rnd6
Rasheem Biles
They took Rasheem Biles at par in No. 203, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
