Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots found their guy under center in Williams: B.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

Adams at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In pick 3 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. at the 34th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick68 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It fills a real need, too.
Pick103 Rnd4 Roman Wilson
Steal is underselling it; Roman Wilson at Round 4, Pick 3 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick148 Rnd5 Isaiah Adams
Isaiah Adams in No. 148 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick160 Rnd5 McCallan Castles
A quiet steal in pick No. 160: McCallan Castles for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick182 Rnd6 Roger Rosengarten
Fair-plus on Roger Rosengarten, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick224 Rnd7 Myles Jones
The board had Myles Jones higher than the 224th pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick232 Rnd7 Zakhari Franklin
Good price on Zakhari Franklin in the 232nd overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
