Conviction outran the board for the Lions, and it cost them: F. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Lions spent pick No. 256 on Cal Haladay, a name the board had a full 113 spots lower.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
However the rest shakes out, Campbell at that price is a win they earned.
About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with edge rusher still staring back at them.
