FutureB+
The Seahawks cashed the board's mistake on Smith: B+. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Seahawks came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. Getting Smith where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Ford has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The veteran additions, Jalen Ramsey chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a cornerstone up front at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick62
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
A tidy bit of business in the 62nd overall pick, where Ja'Tavion Sanders graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
Pick78
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
A slide stopped in No. 78, with Payton Wilson worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick79
Rnd3
Junior Colson
A quiet steal in slot 79: Junior Colson for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick81
Rnd3
Jalen McMillan
Nothing to complain about; Jalen McMillan went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick97
Rnd3
Tyler Davis
Tyler Davis in pick No. 97 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick119
Rnd4
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith in slot 119 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick161
Rnd5
Edefuan Ulofoshio
By-the-book stuff, Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 161st overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick168
Rnd5
Austin Booker
Austin Booker at Round 5, Pick 32 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jaylan Ford
A reach on Jaylan Ford in the 171st pick; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick194
Rnd6
AJ Barner
AJ Barner at the Round 6 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick211
Rnd6
Aki Ogunbiyi
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Aki Ogunbiyi at pick No. 211 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick216
Rnd6
Tanor Bortolini
They jumped the gun on Tanor Bortolini, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick233
Rnd7
Isaiah Neyor
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Neyor at No. 233, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick236
Rnd7
Jalen Green
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jalen Green at pick No. 236. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick248
Rnd7
Taulia Tagovailoa
Taulia Tagovailoa in pick 248 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
