The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Omar Cooper Jr., the No. 78 name on the board, sitting there at No. 97 like a gift left on the doorstep.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
