The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Lions reached some 62 spots for Willie Roberts, and value like that does not grow back. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
