Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
A-
ValueB+

TradesA+
FutureB
The Cowboys let Emmanwori fall into their laps, and walked away with a A-. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Cowboys were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Getting Emmanwori where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
It is not that Mukuba is a bad player; it is that the Cowboys had louder needs to answer first.
In the end it comes back to Jahdae Barron, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a potential shutdown corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick44
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Steal is underselling it; Nick Emmanwori at pick 44 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick55
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
You do not let a running back like Omarion Hampton reach pick No. 55 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jack Bech
They read the board right and Jack Bech was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick86
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
A want over a need in No. 86: Andrew Mukuba adds a safety while linebacker, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
They took Jacob Parrish at par in slot 117, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick149
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten at the 149th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick171
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They jumped the gun on Dont'e Thornton Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jack Nelson
A straight-up fair deal on Jack Nelson at pick No. 174, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
