Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Bengals: B-.

The Bengals went off the board in a big way for Desmond Watson, 43 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. Getting Bryant where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Derrick Harmon
The board had cheaper options than Derrick Harmon at No. 17, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick50 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
Value with a capital V on Jihaad Campbell in pick 50, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick81 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
A straight-up fair deal on Ozzy Trapilo at slot 81, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick119 Rnd4 Lathan Ransom
A quiet steal in pick No. 119: Lathan Ransom for less than the market said. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick153 Rnd5 LeQuint Allen
LeQuint Allen at Round 5, Pick 15 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick172 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
The board fumbled Pat Bryant all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick175 Rnd5 Jack Kiser
They went early on Jack Kiser in pick 175, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick193 Rnd6 Desmond Watson
They reached a country mile for Desmond Watson at No. 193, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
