FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Packers. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent pick No. 243 on Isaac Guerendo, a name the board had a full 52 spots lower. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Getting Fuaga where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In pick No. 25 they get a long-term starter on the line at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
A reach for Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 41st pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick58
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
They paid sticker price for T'Vondre Sweat in slot 58, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick90
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
They liked Marshawn Kneeland enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 3 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick91
Rnd3
Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jarvis Brownlee Jr.. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick127
Rnd4
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
They talked themselves into Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at pick 127, and the board did not agree. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick168
Rnd5
Javon Baker
Javon Baker in Round 5, Pick 32 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick188
Rnd6
Christian Jones
This one needs a full-page explanation: Christian Jones in pick 188, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
Pick204
Rnd6
JD Bertrand
JD Bertrand in the 204th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick216
Rnd6
Rasheen Ali
Rasheen Ali at pick No. 216 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick243
Rnd7
Isaac Guerendo
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Isaac Guerendo well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick251
Rnd7
Trevor Keegan
They paid a round early for Trevor Keegan in the Round 7 slot, more than the board wanted. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
