Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB+
Williams is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: D.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bears, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.

So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The cost of the Orhorhoro reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Adding Will Hernandez by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 1st overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick27 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In pick 27 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick51 Rnd2 Ruke Orhorhoro
Ruke Orhorhoro in pick No. 51 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Devontez Walker
A tidy little value on Devontez Walker in the 75th pick, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick119 Rnd4 Theo Johnson
No edge and no loss on Theo Johnson in No. 119; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick120 Rnd4 James Williams
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on James Williams. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick122 Rnd4 Javon Foster
They paid sticker price for Javon Foster in slot 122, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
