A costly weekend of dealing drags the Cowboys to a C-.

There is reaching, and then there is Thor Griffith at pick 239. The Cowboys jumped the board by 77 and dared it to prove them wrong. It lands right in the middle: a C-, no more, no less.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On value alone, Winston Jr. makes the weekend a net positive.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
