Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Matthew Golden got past him. The Commanders do not have to explain a thing at No. 31. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Powell-Ryland proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
