Draft Grade — Bills
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
The Bills won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-.

The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Khyree Jackson, Round 4, Pick 28, roughly 33 picks past where he belonged. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.

Every board in the league had Anderson lower, and that gap is the story. The phones were where this weekend was really won. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Keon Coleman and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick47 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at pick 47 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick62 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy in the 62nd overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick74 Rnd3 Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens slipping to the Round 3 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick77 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
They did well to land Sedrick Van Pran in No. 77, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick99 Rnd3 Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock at slot 99 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick109 Rnd4 Maason Smith
Maason Smith at the 109th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick128 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in pick No. 128 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick134 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
Matt Goncalves in pick 134 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick144 Rnd5 Cedric Gray
Taking Cedric Gray in Round 5, Pick 8 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick148 Rnd5 Sataoa Laumea
They read the board right and Sataoa Laumea was the payoff at the 148th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick160 Rnd5 Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at Round 5, Pick 24 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick163 Rnd5 Jarrian Jones
They barely believed it either: Jarrian Jones still on the board at the Round 5 slot. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick183 Rnd6 Sione Vaki
The board fumbled Sione Vaki all the way to pick 183, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick189 Rnd6 Marist Liufau
Somehow Marist Liufau was still sitting there in the 189th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick200 Rnd6 Tanor Bortolini
They let Tanor Bortolini come to them and pounced at slot 200. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick204 Rnd6 Trente Jones
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Trente Jones at pick No. 204 is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick217 Rnd6 Tahj Washington
Tahj Washington at No. 217 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick223 Rnd7 Frank Gore Jr.
They paid sticker price for Frank Gore Jr. in the 223rd pick, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick248 Rnd7 Evan Anderson
A big swing on Evan Anderson at pick 248, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
