Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall

FutureA
The Broncos worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Broncos came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
Wilson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. With quarterback unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
However the rest shakes out, McGlothern at that price is a win they earned.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick41
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell in slot 41 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick49
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
They paid sticker price for Cooper Beebe in the 49th overall pick, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick56
Rnd2
T.J. Tampa
Good price on T.J. Tampa in pick No. 56, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick76
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul at Round 3, Pick 12 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick87
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Michael Hall Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick90
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the Round 3 slot on Khyree Jackson with quarterback unsolved.
Pick94
Rnd3
Cam Hart
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Cam Hart at cornerback with quarterback open.
Pick101
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
They took Zak Zinter at par in the 101st pick, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick103
Rnd4
Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson at pick 103 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick104
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at the 104th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick113
Rnd4
Matt Goncalves
Matt Goncalves in pick No. 113 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick119
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Davis at slot 119 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick121
Rnd4
Isaac Guerendo
A straight-up fair deal on Isaac Guerendo at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick126
Rnd4
Ainias Smith
They jumped the gun on Ainias Smith, taking him earlier than his grade liked. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick136
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
A conviction pick on Tommy Eichenberg at the 136th overall pick that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick142
Rnd5
Sataoa Laumea
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 6, with Sataoa Laumea worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick145
Rnd5
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at the 145th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick146
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick147
Rnd5
Marist Liufau
They liked Marist Liufau enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 147. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick164
Rnd5
Dylan Laube
A clean, defensible pick in Round 5, Pick 28 with a little surplus value in Dylan Laube. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick174
Rnd5
Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern in pick 174 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick194
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
A reach for Jared Wiley in the 194th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick203
Rnd6
Logan Lee
No edge and no loss on Logan Lee in No. 203; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
