The steal of the weekend belongs to the 49ers and Royals: B-. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jalen Royals, the No. 64 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 100.
Oladejo has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside. Need was not the driver here.
Pick33
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Walter Nolen in the 33rd overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75
Rnd3
Cameron Williams
Cameron Williams in pick No. 75 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick100
Rnd3
Jalen Royals
Circle this one: Jalen Royals at the 100th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick113
Rnd4
Oluwafemi Oladejo
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Oluwafemi Oladejo well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick138
Rnd4
Logan Brown
They paid up for Logan Brown at Round 4, Pick 36 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick147
Rnd5
Jordan James
A running back of that caliber at No. 147 is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick160
Rnd5
Elijah Roberts
This one needs a full-page explanation: Elijah Roberts in pick 160, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick227
Rnd7
Teddye Buchanan
They reached a country mile for Teddye Buchanan at Round 7, Pick 11, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick249
Rnd7
Ben Yurosek
A big swing on Ben Yurosek at pick No. 249, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick252
Rnd7
Rayuan Lane III
They left a pile of value on the table to take Rayuan Lane III this early at the Round 7 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
