The 49ers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The 49ers did exactly that with Jalen Travis in pick 252. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

On value alone, Gabriel makes the weekend a net positive. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.

On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

They paid sticker price for Malachi Moore in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.

They will replay Dillon Gabriel at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
