Draft Grade — Rams
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureD
The jury is out on the Rams. For now, C+.

The one they had to fix is still broken. The Rams left wide receiver untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.

Getting Simpson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The roster is better shaped than it was, with safety chief among the fixes.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 JC Latham
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick22 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In No. 22 they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick52 Rnd2 Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock in slot 52 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick84 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
They read the board right and Payton Wilson was the payoff at the 84th pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick157 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
Value with a capital V on Jaylin Simpson in pick 157, a genuine coup. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick158 Rnd5 Darius Robinson
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 158 with a little surplus value in Darius Robinson. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick191 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan at the 191st overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick214 Rnd6 Xavier Thomas
Xavier Thomas at the Round 6 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jordan Magee
They took Jordan Magee at par in slot 216, which is nothing to complain about. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick218 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick221 Rnd7 Dwight McGlothern
No edge and no loss on Dwight McGlothern in Round 7, Pick 1; it is a wash and a sensible one. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
