A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bears: B. The Bears' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
They will need Mims to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In No. 4 they get a home-run threat at receiver, reach and all.
Pick35
Rnd2
T.J. Tampa
They paid sticker price for T.J. Tampa in pick No. 35, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick57
Rnd2
Sedrick Van Pran
They paid a round early for Sedrick Van Pran in the Round 2 slot, more than the board wanted. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick68
Rnd3
Amarius Mims
Amarius Mims at the 68th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
