Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall C
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Vikings cashed the board's mistake on Johnson: C.

The Vikings did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Tez Johnson fell into the 161st overall pick.

Reaching for Brosmer left real value on the table behind him. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The veteran additions, Myles Harden chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Hit on Nick Emmanwori and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori slipping to pick 33 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick62 Rnd2 T.J. Sanders
Steal is underselling it; T.J. Sanders at No. 62 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick94 Rnd3 Denzel Burke
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Denzel Burke. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick97 Rnd3 Danny Stutsman
A slide stopped in the 97th pick, with Danny Stutsman worth more than the price. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick103 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Good price on Cam Skattebo in the 103rd overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick108 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Fair-plus on Jake Majors, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick135 Rnd4 Connor Colby
They reached a country mile for Connor Colby at pick No. 135, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick161 Rnd5 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson at slot 161 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick205 Rnd6 Hayden Conner
A straight-up fair deal on Hayden Conner at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick208 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
A linebacker of that caliber at the 208th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick245 Rnd7 Max Brosmer
Value said wait; Max Brosmer in slot 245 says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
