Draft Grade — Vikings

The Vikings answered their biggest question with Sellers. Grade: D-. The Vikings torched the value chart for Princewill Umanmielen, taking him 88 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.
Whatever LaNorris Sellers becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Hill Jr. falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
LaNorris Sellers
In the 19th pick they get a passer to set the clock by at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick20
Rnd1
Jermod McCoy
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a lockdown presence outside, and a steal at that.
Pick49
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Anthony Hill Jr. at the 49th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick51
Rnd2
Nyck Harbor
Nyck Harbor at pick No. 51 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It fills a real need, too.
Pick80
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
They liked Nicholas Singleton enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 80. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick87
Rnd3
Charles Jagusah
Value said wait; Charles Jagusah in the Round 3 slot says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick97
Rnd3
Cayden Green
Cayden Green in the Round 3 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick138
Rnd4
Terrance Carter Jr.
They jumped the gun on Terrance Carter Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick162
Rnd5
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at No. 162 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick169
Rnd5
Princewill Umanmielen
A wild overpay on Princewill Umanmielen in Round 5, Pick 28, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick212
Rnd6
Isaiah Nwokobia
Isaiah Nwokobia slipping to pick No. 212 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick235
Rnd7
Elliot Washington II
Elliot Washington II at pick 235 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
