Good, not great, for the Vikings: B-. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Vikings started one anyway for Max Brosmer, 70 picks ahead of schedule. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
On value alone, Brooks makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori slipping to slot 33 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick53
Rnd2
Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas in the 53rd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick84
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at the Round 3 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick97
Rnd3
Gunnar Helm
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 33, where Gunnar Helm graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson slid further than he should have, and pick 117 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick187
Rnd6
Cody Lindenberg
Value said wait; Cody Lindenberg in the 187th overall pick says they were not listening. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick239
Rnd7
Tahj Brooks
The board fumbled Tahj Brooks all the way to pick 239, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick247
Rnd7
Max Brosmer
Max Brosmer at pick No. 247 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
