KS106 DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B-
ValueB+
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Chiefs: B-. There is a lot to like until you notice offensive lineman is still a hole. The Chiefs never got to the one that mattered most. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Banks. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The back end got a real overhaul.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
Nothing to complain about; Caleb Downs went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick40
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Value with a capital V on Caleb Banks in slot 40, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick74
Rnd3
Max Klare
The board had Max Klare higher than pick No. 74, and the tight end fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick109
Rnd4
Domani Jackson
They took Domani Jackson at par in the 109th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick147
Rnd5
LJ Martin
No edge and no loss on LJ Martin in the 147th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick177
Rnd5
Duce Robinson
Duce Robinson in Round 5, Pick 38 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
