Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots let Reese fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Arvell Reese at pick No. 63 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Spears-Jennings has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63 Rnd2 Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese in pick 63 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick95 Rnd3 Gennings Dunker
Circle this one: Gennings Dunker at slot 95 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick125 Rnd4 J.C. Davis
J.C. Davis at pick No. 125 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick131 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
The board had Michael Trigg higher than the 131st pick, and the tight end fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick169 Rnd5 Treydan Stukes
Treydan Stukes slid further than he should have, and the 169th overall pick is lovely value for the cornerback. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick189 Rnd6 Marlin Klein
Marlin Klein in Round 6, Pick 10 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick200 Rnd6 Gracen Halton
They robbed the room for Gracen Halton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick207 Rnd6 Robert Spears-Jennings
They liked Robert Spears-Jennings enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 207. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick210 Rnd6 Earnest Greene III
You do not let an offensive lineman like Earnest Greene III reach pick 210 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick247 Rnd7 Hykeem Williams
Hykeem Williams in the 247th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
