Draft Grade — Jets
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Jets for Styles: D.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Jets took Kaden Prather a full 57 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Styles. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get an anchor for the defensive front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
A tidy little value on Harold Fannin Jr. in pick 40, a step better than break-even. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick108 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
You do not let a safety like Andrew Mukuba reach No. 108 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick109 Rnd4 Ajani Cornelius
Good price on Ajani Cornelius in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
Pick145 Rnd5 Mello Dotson
Mello Dotson at pick No. 145 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick149 Rnd5 Barrett Carter
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Barrett Carter in No. 149, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick151 Rnd5 Luke Kandra
Steal is underselling it; Luke Kandra at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick184 Rnd6 Kaden Prather
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kaden Prather in slot 184, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick208 Rnd6 Sonny Styles
Somehow Sonny Styles was still sitting there in the 208th pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick220 Rnd7 Taylen Green
A wild overpay on Taylen Green in pick 220, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick224 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
They left a pile of value on the table to take Shilo Sanders this early at the 224th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick227 Rnd7 Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers in Round 7, Pick 13 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
