FutureA
A passer of the future in Williams, and a A-, for the Bears. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Bears' quarterback, full stop. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In the 1st pick they get their quarterback of the future at fair value.
Pick24
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a blindside protector at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick72
Rnd3
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy in pick 72 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick75
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
No drama and no debate, Mike Sainristil went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick87
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
A slide stopped in the 87th overall pick, with Marshawn Kneeland worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
