FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Buccaneers for Walker: B. The Buccaneers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jalon Walker fell into the 53rd pick. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The Sanker pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Mike Green
In the 20th pick they get a disruptor off the edge, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick53
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in No. 53, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick69
Rnd3
Darien Porter
A premium they did not need to pay, Darien Porter a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick121
Rnd4
Lathan Ransom
They robbed the room for Lathan Ransom here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick122
Rnd4
Jonas Sanker
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots to take Jonas Sanker, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick191
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. slid further than he should have, and the 191st overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick197
Rnd6
Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt in Round 6, Pick 21 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick235
Rnd7
Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris in pick No. 235 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
