Draft Grade — Rams
Overall
D-
ValueC+
NeedB-
TradesF
FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Rams to a D-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Que Robinson at slot 118, a reach of 95 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
The Mondon Jr. value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In pick 19 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick28
Rnd1
Mikail Kamara
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a disruptor off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
They will replay Nick Emmanwori at the 33rd pick for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Kurtis Rourke
Kurtis Rourke at slot 58 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick78
Rnd3
Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. at No. 78 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick91
Rnd3
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
Antwaun Powell-Ryland in the Round 3 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick97
Rnd3
Aireontae Ersery
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 97, where Aireontae Ersery graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick100
Rnd3
Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson at the 100th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick118
Rnd4
Que Robinson
A real head-scratcher, Que Robinson in No. 118 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick121
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
Steal is underselling it; Tacario Davis at the 121st pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick146
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
They reached into another round for Cobee Bryant, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
