Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
D+
ValueB

FutureF
The phones sank the Ravens this weekend: D+. The Ravens did not so much draft Jacory Croskey-Merritt as overpay for him, 134 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. On value alone, Watts makes the weekend a net positive.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. The Watts pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with cornerback, quarterback and other spots still on the board.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get an enforcer at safety, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick30
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emeka Egbuka. The roster fit checks out.
Pick49
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen in slot 49 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick59
Rnd2
Carson Schwesinger
They went early on Carson Schwesinger in pick No. 59, and the value did not follow. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick91
Rnd3
Xavier Watts
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 91st overall pick on Xavier Watts with cornerback, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
Pick129
Rnd4
RJ Harvey
They paid sticker price for RJ Harvey in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick136
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
They paid a round early for Emery Jones Jr. in the Round 4 slot, more than the board wanted. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick148
Rnd5
Jacory Croskey-Merritt
Jacory Croskey-Merritt at the 148th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick176
Rnd5
Que Robinson
A reach on Que Robinson in Round 5, Pick 38; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
