Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB
More right than wrong for the Vikings, and a B to prove it.

Nobody had Trevor Keegan this high, and it is not close. The Vikings reached 47 spots to get him at the Round 6 slot. No fireworks, but a solid B.

The Smith pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick42 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins in the 42nd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick49 Rnd2 Trey Benson
Trey Benson at No. 49 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick108 Rnd4 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil at slot 108 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick130 Rnd4 Joe Milton III
A real head-scratcher, Joe Milton III in pick No. 130 is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick148 Rnd5 Ainias Smith
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 148th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick160 Rnd5 Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper slid further than he should have, and the 160th overall pick is lovely value for the linebacker. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick165 Rnd5 McCallan Castles
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and McCallan Castles at the 165th pick is the proof. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick179 Rnd6 Trevor Keegan
They reached a country mile for Trevor Keegan at the Round 6 slot, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick230 Rnd7 Trey Wedig
Value said wait; Trey Wedig in pick 230 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
