FutureB-
The Panthers let Klare fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. When a board-topper like Max Klare slides to Round 3, Pick 29, you do not overthink it, and the Panthers did not. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Their trades came out a wash either way.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In pick 19 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick61
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
They robbed the room for Jake Slaughter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick83
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy at the 83rd pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick93
Rnd3
Max Klare
Taking Max Klare in No. 93 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
No drama and no debate, Bryce Lance went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick156
Rnd5
Jacob Rodriguez
By-the-book stuff, Jacob Rodriguez at Round 5, Pick 17 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick158
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
They paid sticker price for Davison Igbinosun in pick No. 158, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick200
Rnd6
Quintrevion Wisner
They did well to land Quintrevion Wisner in the 200th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick235
Rnd7
Jalon Daniels
The board fumbled Jalon Daniels all the way to No. 235, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
