The Mason McCormick selection is the head-turner. The Panthers reached 69 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. With safety, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on interior defensive lineman is the choice that costs them.

For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
