Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Bears turned the phones into found money: B+.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bears came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They banked enough surplus on Rattler to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 2nd pick they get a No. 1 receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Laiatu Latu
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
They went early on Jackson Powers-Johnson in No. 37, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jonathon Brooks
Good price on Jonathon Brooks in the 67th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
They read the board right and Javon Bullard was the payoff at pick No. 75. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick103 Rnd4 Spencer Rattler
The board had Spencer Rattler higher than slot 103, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick111 Rnd4 Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick123 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
They paid sticker price for Sataoa Laumea in pick 123, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick143 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
Nothing to complain about; Kamal Hadden went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick256 Rnd7 Nathaniel Watson
They let Nathaniel Watson come to them and pounced at slot 256. A need, and now a little less of one.
