Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
Walker should have been long gone. The Saints pounced, and earned a B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Devontez Walker at the 176th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Nesbit reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In slot 19 they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick48 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
No edge and no loss on Kingsley Suamataia in pick 48; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick136 Rnd4 Donovan Jackson
A clean, defensible pick in the 136th overall pick with a little surplus value in Donovan Jackson. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick156 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
They took Malachi Moore at par in No. 156, which is nothing to complain about. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
Pick170 Rnd5 Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith in pick No. 170 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick176 Rnd6 Devontez Walker
Taking Devontez Walker in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick197 Rnd6 Raheim Sanders
Steal is underselling it; Raheim Sanders at Round 6, Pick 22 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick210 Rnd6 Bryson Nesbit
The board had cheaper options than Bryson Nesbit at the 210th pick, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
