Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA FutureC
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Bears.

The Bears pounced the moment Caelen Carson slipped to the 101st pick, and it is the smartest thing they did all weekend.

They will need Gray to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In pick No. 6 they get a red-zone target to build around. Need was not the driver here.
Pick9 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
A straight-up fair deal on Dallas Turner at No. 9, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick39 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Worthy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick40 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton at slot 40 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick47 Rnd2 Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock in pick 47 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick67 Rnd3 Trey Benson
Trey Benson in the 67th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes at pick 75 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick101 Rnd4 Caelen Carson
They let Caelen Carson come to them and pounced at slot 101. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick111 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
They paid sticker price for Leonard Taylor III in Round 4, Pick 11, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick123 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
They liked Cedric Gray enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick143 Rnd5 Javion Cohen
A reach on Javion Cohen in pick No. 143; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
