Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
The Cowboys let Dart fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cowboys watched Jaxson Dart slide 50 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Every board in the league had Marks lower, and that gap is the story.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Emery Jones
In the 28th pick they get a blindside protector at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60 Rnd2 Tory Horton
They paid sticker price for Tory Horton in pick No. 60, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick90 Rnd3 Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick92 Rnd3 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
A quiet steal in No. 92: Jamon Dumas-Johnson for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122 Rnd4 Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart in the 122nd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick124 Rnd4 Jaydn Ott
They paid up for Jaydn Ott at slot 124 when waiting would have done the job. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick154 Rnd5 Dane Key
Dane Key in Round 5, Pick 26 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick186 Rnd6 Akheem Mesidor
Good price on Akheem Mesidor in pick 186, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick220 Rnd7 Jo'Quavious Marks
They went early on Jo'Quavious Marks in the Round 7 slot, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
