The Bengals let Bassa fall and pounced. Final grade: B+. You could see the war room lean forward. Jeffrey Bassa at the Round 6 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
They will need Barrow Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The phones were where this weekend was really won. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.
Spending an early pick on safety with cornerback, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
