Watts should have been long gone. The Chiefs pounced, and earned a B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Chiefs were there to profit. Xavier Watts, the No. 41 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 2, Pick 31. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They will need Simpkins III to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Josh Conerly Jr.
In slot 31 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Steal is underselling it; Xavier Watts at the Round 2 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick66 Rnd3 Alfred Collins
Value with a capital V on Alfred Collins in Round 3, Pick 2, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick95 Rnd3 Charles Grant
Charles Grant at the 95th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick133 Rnd4 Miles Frazier
Nice patience on Miles Frazier, who had no business lasting to pick No. 133. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick226 Rnd7 Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris at No. 226 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick251 Rnd7 Marcus Yarns
Marcus Yarns in pick 251 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
Pick257 Rnd7 Torricelli Simpkins III
They went early on Torricelli Simpkins III in the 257th pick, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
