Draft Grade — Chiefs

Cooper Jr. should have been long gone. The Chiefs pounced, and earned a C-. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Chiefs shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
They banked enough surplus on Cooper Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Rodriguez reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a matchup weapon at tight end at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at the Round 2 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter is a better player than the 58th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick74
Rnd3
Emmett Johnson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Emmett Johnson. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick109
Rnd4
Omar Cooper Jr.
They robbed the room for Omar Cooper Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick132
Rnd4
Logan Jones
Logan Jones at pick No. 132 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick146
Rnd5
Jacob Rodriguez
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jacob Rodriguez well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick176
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun in slot 176 is fair value, right on his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
