You can draft well and still miss the point. The Chiefs did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most.

They will need Wease Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The Smith-Wade pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
