The Chiefs fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A-. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Chiefs came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reese falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
The Chiefs paired the rookies with proven help, Najee Harris leading the way.
Bottom line, with Arvell Reese leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In pick 31 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Kayden McDonald
Kayden McDonald in Round 2, Pick 8 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick63
Rnd2
Max Klare
Max Klare in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick82
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Eli Stowers at the 82nd overall pick is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick86
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Domonique Orange at pick No. 86. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick109
Rnd4
Kaytron Allen
Kaytron Allen at slot 109 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick131
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
They did well to land Tacario Davis in the 131st pick, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick146
Rnd5
Blake Miller
Blake Miller at No. 146 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick161
Rnd5
Eric Rivers
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Eric Rivers in slot 161. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick176
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
Kevin Coleman Jr. at pick No. 176 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
