Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall D
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureB-
The Chiefs bled value on every deal, hence the D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Chiefs shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Davis proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In pick 9 they get a ballhawk on the back end. Need was not the driver here.
Pick40 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Caleb Banks for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick71 Rnd3 Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price at slot 71 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick74 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 10 is lovely value for the tight end. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick109 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
They liked Tacario Davis enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 109. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick146 Rnd5 Kyle Louis
They paid a round early for Kyle Louis in the 146th pick, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick147 Rnd5 Chase Roberts
Chase Roberts in No. 147 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick177 Rnd5 Xavier Nwankpa
Nothing to complain about; Xavier Nwankpa went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick186 Rnd6 Thaddeus Dixon
A straight-up fair deal on Thaddeus Dixon at pick 186, value and slot in agreement. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
